After receiving a check for $500, the previous year's donor did not want to outbid the member, so I ended up with $1,000 less to donate. That's when I changed the practice, and with the Board's support, I connected with the Children's Cancer Hospital at MD Anderson. Ever since, we simply accept any amount from anyone supporting the cause, and we deliver the house along with toys and the donations right before Christmas. Our Director of Maintenance, Raul Osorio, built me a custom table that could withstand the weight and be easily movable. Here we are, delivering our first MD Anderson HRC gingerbread house.
